A severe weather outbreak is expected Thursday across portions of Mississippi and Alabama.
"Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected from midday through afternoon over parts of the lower Mississippi Valley region and Mid-South", the Storm Prediction Center says.
"Tornadoes are the main concern (some strong to violent). Also, severe nontornadic winds may exceed 65 kt [74.8 mph] locally, and sporadic large, damaging hail also is possible."
At 10:40am Thursday, rain was occurring over portions of Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee. Storms were developing over Mississippi and Alabama.
These storms will develop and expand this afternoon and continue onto this evening.
