Heavy rain is possible Thursday night and Friday. Even if not heavy, a solid amount of rain - 1 inch or so - is expected.
But could there be some freezing rain?
Basically, cold air will be pushing downwards, south, from the Northeast US and Canada.
At the same time, warm air is pushing in from our south, based from the Gulf of Mexico.
The question would be what exactly the temperatures are and where this cold/warm line sets up.
To have freezing rain, the ground needs to be 32 degrees or less. The air in the sky has to be warm, and then the precipitation falls as rain and it freezes on contact with any surface.
While this not a very likely scenario, this is just something to watch for in case it does materialize.
